What is Instar?
Instar is the "nom-de-Rock" of Karl von Kries' studio recording project, and the name of his live band when he plays out with other musicians.
My first EP Rich Girls was called "Excellent" by NME. I recorded a follow-up LP called Secret Services, and a new album is in the works. I wrote the film scores for three interesting animated movies and one flawed feature comedy. Here are some reviews. You might like these photographs.
I live in the Central Coast of California, and play live with my trusty rock box whenever possible.
